The “House Critters” Halloween
Henrietta
and the rest of the house critters had been playing upstairs in Amy’s’ part of
the house for most of the morning when she decided it must be time to eat. When they went upstairs there had been treats
placed on the dining room table, which would make for a delicious lunch.
Henrietta
Bobbie Bunny was the eldest of the critters and she gathered up the other
critters to go eat. Big Bunny and Rainy Reindeer were in the living room
hopping on the couch, while Ducky Duck and Blue Booby were in the bed room
snuggled up on a bunch of pillow. The bunnies and water birds hopped and the
reindeer clomped down the stairs to the fire place room. Henrietta stopped so
fast that Big Bunny ran into her and then he got the rest of the critters
landing on him. This was quite the sight with paws, hooves, and webbed feet
sticking out from all over the mass of bodies on the bottom landing of the
stairs.
Henrietta was scared; there were things in the room
she had never seen. She did not think they would eat her or the other critters,
but did not like the looks of most of them. The critters got untangled and the
rest of them peered into the room with the same reaction as Henrietta. They
talked about what they had seen and remembered some of the things names from
when the humans talked about special days. The first thing they focused on was
something with a large mouth with big teeth that had blood on them, which was
what had stopped Henrietta dead in her track. Blue Booby said Amy, the young
human, had been watching a movie and he had heard that the thing was a
werewolf. They noticed the ghosts next;
they were hanging from the ceiling light with some on the walls and one really
nasty looking one on the bathroom door. Now they looked further into the room
and saw a problem.
In the
doorway to the dining room was a full sized witch with purple hair and a nose
to match. She held a wand in one hand,
clutched a broom in the other and appeared to be looking directly at them. Then
she laughed, which sounded like a crow, and the critters went back up the
stairs much faster than they had come down them. They all ended up under Amy’s
bed and all thoughts of lunch had been scared right out of their heads!
